Target Information
KIF12 encodes a member of the kinesin superfamily of microtubule-associated molecular motors involved in microtubule cytoskeleton functions. These proteins play key roles in intracellular transport and cell division. In mouse, a similar protein functions in beta cell antioxidant signaling, acting as a scaffold for the transcription factor Sp1. Mice lacking this gene exhibit beta cell oxidative stress and hypoinsulinemic glucose intolerance.
