Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by epitope-specific affinity chromatography. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small (40S) and a large (60S) subunit containing over 80 distinct ribosomal proteins. Mammalian ribosomal proteins are encoded by multigene families that include processed pseudogenes and one functional intron-containing gene.
Ribosomal Protein S10 (RPS10) is a 165 amino acid component of the 40S subunit. It is primarily localized in the cytoplasm but can also be found in the granular component region of the nucleolus, requiring PRMT5-mediated methylation and interaction with NPS1.
Defects in RPS10 are associated with Diamond-Blackfan anemia type 9 (DBA9), a congenital hypoplastic anemia characterized by macrocytic anemia, erythroblastopenia, and increased malignancy risk.
