Target Information
SFPQ (also known as PSF) encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and regulation of gene expression. SFPQ forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and DNA break repair. It has been identified as a downstream target of tau, with nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation observed in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels correlate with tau pathology, suggesting its key role in neurodegenerative diseases. SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules depending on cell type.
