Target Information

The ERK3 protein belongs to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and is closely related to mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). MAPKs, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), are activated through phosphorylation cascades and serve as integration points for multiple signaling pathways.
ERK3 is localized in the nucleus and is activated in fibroblasts upon serum or phorbol ester treatment.
Tissue specificity: Highest expression in skeletal muscle, followed by brain. Also found in heart, placenta, lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, and skin fibroblasts.
