Product Specific Information

Anti-Alkaline Phosphatase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Alkaline Phosphatase [Human Intestine].
Cross-reactivity against Alkaline Phosphatase from other sources is unknown.
Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a homodimeric enzyme (~86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer, essential for its catalytic activity. It functions optimally at alkaline pH and is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes with structural variations adapted to their environments.
ALP is involved in liver metabolism and skeletal development. In bacteria, it serves as a source of inorganic phosphate, and in yeast, it is useful for studying membrane protein sorting.
