Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is purified from monospecific antiserum by delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by dialysis. Immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase and anti-Rabbit Serum, as well as purified and partially purified human beta-2-Microglobulin. Cross-reactivity with other sources is unknown.
Target Information
Beta-2-microglobulin (B2M) is a 12–14 kDa subunit of MHC class I molecules. It is associated with HLA Class I antigens expressed on lymphocytes, thymocytes, monocytes, granulocytes, platelets, endothelial and epithelial cells, but absent on erythrocytes. Found both membrane-bound and free in plasma, B2M has sequence homology to immunoglobulin constant regions and a beta-pleated sheet structure. It plays roles in antigen presentation, TCR signaling, and CD8+ cell signaling. The B2M gene is located on chromosome 15; mutations can cause hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia. Beta-2-microglobulin levels serve as renal function markers and as prognostic indicators for HIV infection.
