The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The preB cell receptor (CD179b) is expressed on proB and preB cells, where it mediates signals for cellular proliferation and differentiation from the proB to preB stage. It plays roles in allelic exclusion at the Ig heavy chain gene locus and in promoting Ig light chain gene rearrangements. The receptor consists of a membrane-bound Ig mu heavy chain associated with a heterodimeric surrogate light chain. This gene encodes one of the surrogate light chain subunits and belongs to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. Mutations in CD179b can cause B cell deficiency and agammaglobulinemia, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by low or absent gamma globulins or antibodies. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
