Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for Human XEDAR/EDA2R.
Target Information
X-linked ectodysplasin-A2 receptor (XEDAR) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family, highly expressed during embryonic development, and binds to ectodysplasin-A2 (EDA-A2).
Two main isoforms, XEDAR-s and XEDAR-L, differ by a 21-amino acid region near the cytoplasmic domain. Neither isoform possesses a death domain, and both act mainly through TRAF3 and TRAF6 to activate the NF-κB and JNK pathways.
Cells transfected with XEDAR and treated with EDA-A2 form a secondary complex containing FADD, caspase-8, and caspase-10, leading to activation of caspase-8 and caspase-3, and ultimately apoptosis.
EDA-A2-induced apoptosis depends on caspase-9 activation, as inhibitors of caspase-8 block apoptosis following EDA-A2 treatment.
