For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac, intestinal tract, and liver during fetal development. In adults, AFP expression is associated with hepatoma or teratoma, though hereditary persistence can occur without pathology. AFP functions as the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, with both genes located tandemly on chromosome 4. It exists in monomeric, dimeric, and trimeric forms and binds copper ions, nickel ions, fatty acids, and bilirubin. AFP levels in amniotic fluid are used to screen for neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. Elevated serum AFP is observed in hepatocellular carcinoma, teratoblastoma, colorectal, pancreatic, and germ cell cancers.
