Target Information
BCLAF1 (BCL2-Associated Transcription Factor 1) is an intracellular, death-promoting transcriptional repressor of survival genes that interacts with several members of the BCL2 protein family. It contains basic leucine zipper (bZIP) and MYB DNA-binding domains.
During apoptosis, BCLAF1 localizes to dot-like structures throughout the nucleus and redistributes near the nuclear envelope. Overexpression induces apoptosis, which can be suppressed by co-expression of BCL2 proteins. Also known as BTF, it triggers a pro-apoptotic signal and is mainly expressed in skeletal muscle tissue.
