Target Information
BCLAF1 (BCL2-Associated Transcription Factor 1) is an intracellular transcriptional repressor that promotes cell death by interacting with BCL2 family proteins. It contains bZIP and MYB DNA-binding domains. In apoptotic cells, BCLAF1 localizes to dot-like nuclear structures and relocates near the nuclear envelope. Overexpression induces apoptosis, which can be suppressed by BCL2 co-expression. Also known as BTF, it may help overcome resistance to STI571 and is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle.
