Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The bound growth factor determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer composed of PDGF receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5 near the genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, which may be associated with the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
