Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the complex I 75 kDa subunit family. Mammalian complex I consists of 45 subunits and is located at the mitochondrial inner membrane.
This protein has NADH dehydrogenase and oxidoreductase activity, transferring electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain, with ubiquinone as the immediate electron acceptor.
It is the largest subunit of complex I and part of the iron-sulfur fragment, potentially forming part of the NADH oxidation site.
Mutations in this gene are associated with complex I deficiency. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
