This antibody detects endogenous levels of total RPS19.
Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles responsible for protein synthesis, composed of a small 40S and a large 60S subunit. The RPS19 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S19E family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Mutations in RPS19 cause Diamond-Blackfan anemia, characterized by reduced erythroid precursors. This suggests that RPS19 may have additional roles in erythropoiesis beyond its ribosomal function. Elevated expression has been observed in some colon carcinomas compared to normal tissues. Multiple processed pseudogenes of RPS19 are distributed throughout the genome.
