Target Information
The PVR/CD155 gene encodes a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Its extracellular domain mediates cell attachment to vitronectin, while the intracellular domain interacts with the dynein light chain Tctex-1/DYNLT1. This gene is specific to the primate lineage and serves as a cellular receptor for poliovirus during the initial step of viral replication. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
