Target Information

Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNA by their cognate amino acid. They play a central role in linking amino acids with nucleotide triplets contained in tRNAs and are believed to be among the first proteins in evolution.
Tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase belongs to the class I tRNA synthetase family. Human tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase exhibits cytokine activities after cleavage into two parts: an N-terminal fragment with catalytic activity and a C-terminal fragment unique to mammals. The N-terminal fragment acts as an interleukin-8-like cytokine, while the C-terminal fragment functions as an EMAP II-like cytokine.
