This antibody detects endogenous levels of MEF2C only when phosphorylated at Ser459.
Target Information
MEF2C is a transcription activator that binds specifically to the MEF2 element in regulatory regions of many muscle-specific genes. It regulates cardiac morphogenesis, myogenesis, and vascular development. MEF2C plays a critical role in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory by modulating excitatory synapses and synaptic transmission. It is essential for neuronal development, proper cortical architecture, and normal function of megakaryocytes, platelets, and B lymphocytes. MEF2C is also required for B-cell survival and proliferation following BCR stimulation and contributes to efficient IgG1 antibody responses and germinal center formation. Isoforms 3 and 4, lacking the repressor domain, are more active than isoforms 1 and 2.
