Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of MEF2C only when phosphorylated at S396.
Target Information
MEF2C is a transcription activator that binds specifically to the MEF2 element present in the regulatory regions of many muscle-specific genes. It controls cardiac morphogenesis and myogenesis, and is involved in vascular development. Plays an essential role in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory by regulating excitatory synapse number and synaptic transmission. Crucial for neuronal development, megakaryocyte and platelet formation, and bone marrow B lymphopoiesis. Required for B-cell survival and proliferation, efficient IgG1 antibody responses, and normal germinal center B-cell induction. May also be involved in neurogenesis and cortical architecture development. Isoform 3 and 4, lacking the repressor domain, are more active than isoform 1 and 2.
