Target Information
GPC3 (Glypican 3) is a cell surface proteoglycan that bears heparan sulfate. It may be involved in growth suppression and modulation in mesodermal tissues and organs, and in regulating IGF2 receptor interactions. Members of the glypican family are anchored to the cytoplasmic membrane via a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol (GPI) linkage. Mutations in GPC3 cause Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome (SGBS), characterized by pre- and postnatal overgrowth with visceral and skeletal anomalies.
