This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins form part of the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex, which functions in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. They are divided into three classes:
- Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: containing other protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the Fbls class. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, though some full-length forms remain undetermined.
