Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, store aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, or at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

Tachykinins are small peptide neurotransmitters including substance P, neurokinin A, and neurokinin B, acting on three distinct G-protein coupled receptors. The NK-3 receptor (NK3R) has the highest affinity for neurokinin B and is highly expressed in the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei. Upon ligand binding, NK3R activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system, likely leading to vasopressin and oxytocin release. NK3R may also be involved in learning and memory, as knockout mice exhibit cognitive deficits. It is suggested to play a role in vagal afferent neuron regulation.
