SH3BP4는 인간 각막 섬유아세포에서 차등 발현 분석을 통해 분리된 새로운 cDNA로, 세 개의 NPF 모티프, SH3 도메인, PXXP 모티프, 이중 핵 표적 신호, 티로신 인산화 부위를 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 clathrin, dynamin, transferrin receptor (TfR) 등 특정 엔도사이토시스 관련 단백질과 상호작용하며, TfR을 포함한 피복 소낭에 위치합니다.
SH3BP4는 clathrin 매개 엔도사이토시스의 화물 특이적 조절에 관여하며, 특히 TfR의 내재화를 조절하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
