Target Information
HIF-2 alpha (Epas1) is a transcription factor involved in oxygen-regulated gene expression. It contains a basic-helix-loop-helix domain and a dimerization domain, and is involved in signal transduction pathways responsive to oxygen levels. HIF-2 alpha regulates VEGF expression and plays a role in blood vessel and lung tubular system development. Mutations in this gene are associated with erythrocytosis familial type 4.
