This antibody is highly specific for mature olfactory neurons, including axons and terminals.
Target Information
Olfactory marker protein (OMP) is an abundant, 19-kDa cytosolic protein expressed almost exclusively in mature, functioning olfactory neurons, but not in precursor basal cells.
The OMP gene and protein sequence are highly conserved among mouse, rat, and human.
OMP acts as a modulatory component of the olfactory signal-transduction cascade and interacts with BEX1 and BEX2.
Uniquely associated with mature olfactory receptor neurons and belongs to the olfactory marker protein family.
