Specificity:
This antibody is specific for murine CD25, the 55 kDa interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain (IL-2Rα). CD25 is expressed by early progenitors of the T and B lineage as well as by activated mature T and B lymphocytes. CD25 alone binds IL-2 with low affinity, but when associated with CD122 (IL-2 receptor β chain) and CD132 (common γ chain), it forms the high-affinity IL-2 receptor. Binding of IL-2 to both high- and low-affinity receptor classes is inhibited by the PC61.5 antibody.

Target Information

CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain/IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. The IL2 receptor complex consists of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG chains forming a high-affinity receptor.

• Homodimeric IL2RA: low-affinity receptor
• Homodimeric IL2RB: medium-affinity receptor

IL2 is primarily produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth, differentiation, and apoptosis-regulating factor. It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte macrophage colony formation. Disruption of this gene in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, indicating its role in immune regulation.
Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
