Product Specific Information

Description:
The SIDI8BEE monoclonal antibody reacts with human and rhesus macaque CD8 beta. The CD8b chain associates with the CD8a chain to form the CD8ab heterodimer expressed on most thymocytes and peripheral cytotoxic αβ T cells. The CD8 receptor complex binds to MHC class I and plays a role in T cell development and activation. SIDI8BEE detects CD8 beta in both CD8ab heterodimers and CD8bb homodimers.

SIDI8BEE is cross-reactive to human and rhesus macaque CD8b. Other non-human primate species have not been tested.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Use at 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test. A test is defined as the amount of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes, mediating cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor, CD8 recognizes antigens presented by MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells. The functional coreceptor may be a homodimer (αα) or heterodimer (αβ). Both chains share homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced variants described. A pseudogene is also located on chromosome 2.
