PEP-012 is a 14 amino acid (amino acids 1-13) synthetic peptide whose sequence is from the amino end of the human FKBP12 protein. The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus): G1-V-Q-V-E-T-I-S-P-G-D-G-R13-C (The C-terminal cysteine has been added to facilitate conjugation and is not a part of the native human FKBP12 sequence)

This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the polyclonal antibody that reacts with this product and FKBP12, catalog # PA1-026A. Using a solution with equal weights per unit volume of peptide and corresponding antibody will yield a solution with a large molar excess of peptide that is able to competitively bind the antibody.

Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.

Target Information

FKBP12 is a member of the immunophilin protein family, which play a role in immunoregulation and basic cellular processes involving protein folding and trafficking. The protein is a cis-trans prolyl isomerase that binds the immunosuppressants FK506 and rapamycin. It interacts with several intracellular signal transduction proteins including type I TGF-beta receptor. It also interacts with multiple intracellular calcium release channels, and coordinates multi-protein complex formation of the tetrameric skeletal muscle ryanodine receptor. In mouse, deletion of this homologous gene causes congenital heart disorder known as noncompaction of left ventricular myocardium.
