Target Information
Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) inactivate target kinases by dephosphorylating both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. DUSPs are classified into six subgroups based on sequence similarity (PRLs, Cdc14 phosphatases, PTENs, myotubularins, MKPs, atypical DUSPs).
DUSP inhibitors can modulate MAPK and cellular responses. The regulated expression and activity of DUSP family members in various cells and tissues control MAPK intensity and duration, influencing physiological responses.
DUSP12 (YVH1, GKAP) contains a conserved DUSP catalytic domain and an extended C-terminal domain possibly related to glucokinase regulation. It is localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus.
