The MP5-20F3 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-6 (IL-6) and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IL-6 (also known as B Cell Stimulating Factor, BCSF, and BSF-2) is a 21–28 kDa cytokine produced by various cell types, including monocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. It influences immune and inflammatory responses and plays a role in neuronal development and acute phase reactions.

Applications Tested:
Functional Grade Purified MP5-20F3 antibody was tested by LAL assay (low endotoxin), ELISA, and bioassay for IL-6 neutralization.
At 0.03 µg/mL, it inhibited by 50% the biological effects of 0.01 ng/mL mouse IL-6 in a B9 cell proliferation assay.

ELISA Use:
Tested as a capture antibody for mouse IL-6 in sandwich ELISA with biotinylated MP5-32C11 (Product # 13-7062-81) and recombinant IL-6 ([Product # 14-8061]) as the standard.
Recommended concentration range: 0.5–2 µg/mL.
Standard curve range: 8–1000 pg/mL.

Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune or infectious conditions. Expressed at inflammation sites, IL-6 triggers transcriptional responses via IL-6 receptor alpha. Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with inflammatory diseases, diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and viral infections including COVID-19. Related diseases include Kaposi Sarcoma and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
