Target Information
6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (PGD) is the second dehydrogenase in the pentose phosphate pathway. Deficiency of this enzyme is generally asymptomatic and inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. Hemolysis can occur when both 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconolactonase are deficient, suggesting synergistic enzymopathy.
