Target Information
DNA-dependent RNA polymerase catalyzes transcription of DNA into RNA using ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates.
POLR3G is a peripheral component of RNA polymerase III, which synthesizes small RNAs such as 5S rRNA and tRNAs. It may interact with other subunits (RPC3/POLR3C-RPC6/POLR3F-RPC7/POLR3G) to facilitate RNA Pol III binding to the TFIIIB-DNA complex.
POLR3G plays a key role in sensing and limiting infection by intracellular bacteria and DNA viruses. It acts as a nuclear and cytosolic DNA sensor involved in the innate immune response, detecting non-self dsDNA and transcribing it into dsRNA, which induces type I interferon and NF-κB through the RIG-I pathway.
