Product Specific Information

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Target Information

SMAD2 (MADH2, MAD2) regulates cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. It interacts with TGF-beta receptors via the SMAD anchor for receptor activation, a key event in TGF-beta signaling.
Phosphorylation of threonine 8 by ERK1 enhances SMAD2 transcriptional activity, negatively regulated by calmodulin. Upon TGF-beta signaling, SMAD2 is phosphorylated, dissociates from SARA, and associates with SMAD4. This complex translocates to the nucleus to regulate transcription. SMAD2 can also be phosphorylated by activin type 1 receptor kinase, mediating activin signaling.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding SMAD2 have been observed.
