Target Information
Estrogen-related receptor alpha 1 (ERRα, ERR1) is an orphan nuclear hormone receptor. ERR family members share nearly identical DNA-binding domains, with 68% amino acid identity to the estrogen receptor. ERRα binds to an ERR-alpha response element (ERRE) containing the consensus half-site 5'-tnaaggtca-3', and can interact with the medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) response element NRRE-1. ERR1 functions as a metabolic regulator and is highly expressed in tissues that preferentially metabolize fatty acids. The corresponding gene is NR3B1.
