BRAL1은 하이알루로난 및 프로테오글리칸 결합 링크 단백질로 구성된 상동 초가족의 일원입니다. 주로 뇌 조직과 척수에서 발현되며, 면역글로불린 유사 폴드와 두 개의 프로테오글리칸 텐덤 반복(PTR)을 포함합니다.
mRNA 발현 패턴은 다른 렉티칸 프로테오글리칸과 유사하여, BRAL1이 세포외기질 분자인 하이알루로난과 브레비칸 간의 결합을 안정화하는 역할을 할 것으로 추정됩니다.
생쥐 뇌 면역염색 결과, BRAL1은 발달 중 소뇌 백질(P20)과 성체 뇌의 수초화된 섬유 다발에서 발현되어 축삭 수초화 시기에 발현이 시작됨을 시사합니다.
