Target Information
H3K27me3 is an epigenetic mark where histone H3 is trimethylated at lysine residue 27. It functions as a silencing mark associated with gene repression, typically found in heterochromatin and inactive gene promoters.
The mark is regulated by:
- EZH2 (writer): histone methyltransferase, part of PRC2 complex
- UTX and JMJD3 (erasers): histone demethylases
Dysregulation of H3K27me3 is linked to various diseases, including cancer.
H3K27me3 antibodies are used in Western blot and ChIP assays to study epigenetic modifications.
