FGFR2는 수용체 티로신 키나아제(FGFR) 패밀리의 구성원으로, 혈관형성, 세포분화, 조직재생 등 다양한 세포 기능을 조절합니다. FGFR 패밀리는 암, 류마티스 관절염, 당뇨성 망막병증 등 여러 질환과 관련되어 있으며, FGFR2 유전자 변이는 Crouzon, Pfeiffer, Apert, Jackson-Weiss, Beare-Stevenson, Saethre-Chotzen 등 다양한 두개골융합증과 연관되어 있습니다. 이 유전자는 여러 대체 스플라이싱 변형을 통해 다양한 아이소폼을 생성합니다.
