Target Information
Metadherin (also known as MTDH or LYRIC) is a metastasis adhesion protein that localizes with tight junction proteins ZO-1 and occludin in polarized epithelial cells. It is not a structural component but is recruited during tight junction maturation. Metadherin is overexpressed in breast cancer tissues and xenografts, while expressed at lower levels in normal breast tissue. It binds to lung vasculature through a C-terminal extracellular segment, and inhibition of this domain has been reported to reduce breast cancer metastasis.
