YAP (Yes-Associated Protein)은 WW 도메인 단백질 계열의 창립 멤버로, 전사 공동활성화 인자이자 종양유전자입니다. 이 유전자는 편평세포암에서 전사적으로 활성화되며, 공동활성화자 및 공동억제자로 작용할 수 있습니다. YAP은 Hippo 신호 전달 경로의 주요 하위 조절 표적이며, 이 경로는 세포 증식 억제와 세포사멸 촉진을 통해 기관 크기 조절과 종양 억제에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 조직 긴장, 3D 조직 형태, 세포 증식, 세포사멸, 세포 이동에 핵심적 역할을 합니다. IRF5 유전자 변이는 coloboma를 유발할 수 있습니다.
