Target Information

The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex composed of two main subcomplexes: the 20S core and the 19S regulator.

• 20S core: consists of four rings (two alpha and two beta rings, each with seven subunits).
• 19S regulator: includes a base (6 ATPase and 2 non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to 10 non-ATPase subunits).
  Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and degrade peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
  The immunoproteasome variant processes class I MHC peptides and contains the 11S regulator (PA28) instead of the 19S regulator.
  This gene encodes the gamma subunit of the 11S regulator, which assembles into a homohexameric ring. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
