Target Information

SRPK2, along with SRPK1, is likely the cellular protein kinase mediating HBV core protein phosphorylation during viral infection, representing a potential host target for therapeutic intervention.
It promotes neuronal apoptosis by up-regulating cyclin-D1 (CCND1) expression through phosphorylation of SRSF2, which suppresses p53/TP53 phosphorylation. This relieves p53/TP53’s repressive effect on cyclin-D1 expression.
SRPK2 also phosphorylates ACIN1, redistributing it from nuclear speckles to the nucleoplasm, leading to cyclin A1 up-regulation. It plays an essential role in spliceosomal B complex formation via phosphorylation of DDX23/PRP28 and negatively regulates HBV replication by reducing pregenomic RNA packaging efficiency.
