Target Information
IEX-1 is a stress-inducible gene activated by ionizing radiation, ultraviolet radiation, and various growth factors such as FAS and TNF-α. It is broadly expressed in epithelial, endocrine, and vascular endothelial tissues. IEX-1 regulates cellular growth, apoptosis, and oncogenesis, and its expression is controlled by transcription factors including p53, NF-κB/Rel, Sp1, and c-Myc. It exists as both a long form (IEX1L) and a splice variant (IEX1S), localized to the nucleus and perinuclear region. Overexpression promotes apoptosis and cell cycle progression, while loss of expression reduces both.
