Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism by enhancing membrane transport of glucose, amino acids, and certain ions.
It promotes glycogen storage, formation of triglycerides, and synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids.
Insulin is a 51-amino acid polypeptide produced from proinsulin, which is cleaved into two chains (A and B) linked via disulfide bonds and one molecule of C-peptide.
Insulin deficiency leads to diabetes mellitus, a major cause of morbidity and mortality.
Insulin is also present in tumors of β-cell origin such as insulinoma.
