Angiopoietin-1, -2, and -4 participate in blood vessel formation.
The protein encoded by this gene (ANGPTL1) is widely expressed in adult tissues, with mRNA levels highest in highly vascularized tissues.
This protein is secretory and does not act as an endothelial cell mitogen in vitro.
