This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to avoid contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

BCL-XL is a member of the BCL-2 protein family. These proteins form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators involved in various cellular activities.
BCL-XL is located at the outer mitochondrial membrane and regulates mitochondrial membrane channel (VDAC) opening, which controls membrane potential, reactive oxygen species production, and cytochrome C release — key in apoptosis induction.

Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms:

• Longer isoform: acts as an apoptotic inhibitor
• Shorter isoform: acts as an apoptotic activator
