Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that can inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family dimerize to modulate apoptosis. Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effect. Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis. Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is associated with follicular lymphoma. High BCL-2 alpha protein expression is observed in neoplastic germinal centers of follicular lymphomas, while normal centers are negative. Two transcript variants differ in their C-terminal ends. Overexpression of BCL-2 is linked to cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.
