Target Information
The KV gene family encodes more than 30 genes that form subunits of K⁺ channels, differing in gating, permeation, and expression properties. Functional KV channels assemble as tetramers of pore-forming alpha-subunits (KV1–KV4) and accessory beta-subunits that modulate gating. Variations in trafficking and expression of KV1 subunits (KV1.1, KV1.2, KV1.4) in rat and human brain indicate tight regulation of neuronal channel formation.
