Glucocorticoid Receptor (NR3C1)는 글루코코르티코이드의 수용체로서 전사인자 및 다른 전사인자의 조절자로 작용합니다.
이 단백질은 평상시 세포질에 존재하지만, 리간드 결합 시 핵으로 이동합니다.
심장(좌우 심방, 심실, 대동맥, 심첨, 중격, 방실결절 등)에서 발현이 확인되며, 다양한 프로모터와 번역 개시 부위를 통해 여러 이소폼이 생성됩니다.
GR은 리간드 활성화를 위해 샤페론 단백질 복합체와 결합해야 하며, 덱사메타손 등 스테로이드와 나노몰 농도에서 결합합니다.
Glucocorticoid Receptor 유전자의 돌연변이는 글루코코르티코이드 저항성(코르티솔 저항성)의 원인이 될 수 있습니다.
