This peptide corresponds to 19 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human TMP21.
PEP-0435 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20315.

Target Information

TMP21 is a ubiquitously expressed protein involved in vesicular targeting and protein transport. It is also a component of the presenilin complex and modulates the γ-secretase, but not the ε-secretase, cleavage activity of amyloid precursor protein.
The presenilin complex includes APH1, nicastrin, PEN2, and presenilin-1, which together cleave amyloid precursor protein at γ- and ε-sites, potentially leading to accumulation of the Abeta product associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Co-immunoprecipitation experiments indicate TMP21 may regulate this complex. Suppression of TMP21 expression by siRNA increases γ-secretase activity and Abeta production, demonstrating TMP21’s modulatory role.
