HSD17B10 유전자는 short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase superfamily에 속하는 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase type II를 암호화합니다. 이 미토콘드리아 단백질은 다양한 지방산, 알코올, 스테로이드의 산화를 촉매합니다. Alzheimer’s disease 발병과 관련이 있으며, 유전자 변이는 2-methyl-3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MHBD)의 원인입니다. 여러 전사체 변이가 보고되었으며, 그중 두 가지는 완전 길이가 확인되었습니다.
