Target Information
Norepinephrine Transporter (NET, or noradrenaline transporter, NAT) is a monoamine transporter responsible for reuptake of noradrenaline from the synapse into storage vesicles. It can also transport dopamine to a lesser degree.
Reduced NET levels have been observed in the locus coeruleus of patients with major depression.
Cocaine, amphetamines, and antidepressants such as SNRIs and TCAs increase noradrenaline levels by inhibiting NET.
Deficits in the NET gene have been associated with ADHD.
